(BOSTON) – On February 10th, the Lowell Cultural Council joined with members of the other 328 local cultural councils throughout the Commonwealth at the 2016 LCC Statewide Assembly.  In addition to all of the great networking and inspiration, it was an extra special occasion for Lowell as the Asian American Cultures Festival: The Kingdom of Kambuja, a joint production of the UMass Lowell Center for Asian American Studies, Flying Orb Productions, Angkor Dance Troupe, the UMass Lowell World Music Ensemble, and others. More information on the winning project can be found here in the the award announcement.

As an added Lowell-related treat, 2013 LCC grantee, Luminarium Dance was the featured performer of the afternoon session.  Luminarium received a Lowell Cultural Council grant for the Threading Motion Project, in collaboration with the American Textile History Museum and the New England Quilt Museum.  Following the event, the award winners and members of the council were treated to a special tour of the House of Representatives Chamber by State Representative Rady Mom.
